Lesleigh Cushing Stahlberg is Associate Professor of Philosophy and Religion & Jewish Studies at Colgate University. After receiving a BA in English Literature and Religious Studies from McGill University and an MTS in Scripture and Interpretation from Harvard Divinity School, she earned her PhD in Religion and Literature at Boston University. Her dissertation focused on the literary afterlife of the Hebrew Bible. Cushing Stahlberg’s research centers on the intersection of the Hebrew Bible and contemporary culture. She has written articles about the use of the Bible by contemporary Jewish authors; the Ten Commandments in America; same-sex marriage and the Bible; and literal and literary biblical interpretation. She is the author of Sustaining Fictions: Thinking about the Literary Afterlife of the Bible (2008) and co-editor, with Peter Hawkins, of Scrolls of Love: Ruth and the Song of Songs (2006).
